Traffic congestion on major corridors is a significant concern for residents. Michael will:
- Complete Terwillegar Drive Expansion: Ensure this critical project is completed on schedule and on budget
- Traffic Flow Optimization: Address congestion on major corridors through signal timing and intersection improvements
- Transit Connections: Improve transit service frequency and reliability
- Active Transportation: Support practical improvements to walking and cycling infrastructure that reflect how residents actually travel
- Commuter Planning: Advocate for transportation solutions that recognize the commuting patterns of southwest Edmonton residents
Community Growth
With many new neighbourhoods in development, Michael will ensure growing communities have the services they need:
- Recreation Access: Advocate for the timely development of parks and recreation facilities
- Commercial Services: Support appropriate commercial development to create complete communities
- School Sites: Work with school boards to ensure adequate educational facilities
- Community Leagues: Support the establishment and growth of community leagues in new neighbourhoods
- Infrastructure Timing: Ensure roads, utilities, and services keep pace with residential development
Established Neighborhoods
While supporting new development, Michael will ensure established neighbourhoods aren't forgotten:
- Infrastructure Renewal: Advocate for timely maintenance and renewal of aging infrastructure
- Park Enhancements: Support improvements to existing parks and green spaces
- Traffic Calming: Address concerns about cut-through traffic and speeding
- Community Hubs: Strengthen existing community facilities as neighbourhood gathering places
- Heritage Recognition: Preserve and celebrate the history of established communities
